Mass Communication is a prolific and eclectic career to pursue. It comes in varying forms and formats and gives a wide array lens to pick up options from. For instance, one can opt for print journalism and become an editor or a reporter in a magazine, on a digital platform, a newspaper, or write e-books et al. Or else, one can go in for audio media and become an anchor or a newsreader, amongst other options. Television journalism proffers an immense arc to choose from depending upon wherein the interest actually is.

These days, one can be in interactive platforms or convergence media that includes narratives from differing worlds. Then are photographic pursuits, creating podcasts, content writing for websites etc. It would be cynical to say that mass communication only gives a leeway to those that desire social change. It keeps them on their toes mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Being alive in these parameters is essential in this vista and this is good for personal growth of any human being. Thus, what one sees in mass media is not just a career that gives monies, materialistic wealth of different kinds, something plausible to do, et al.

On the flip side it gives a vocation for a lifetime. It is like a paid holiday for most journalists that thrive on news and views and make a living out of it. Mass communication is the fourth pillar of a democracy. So we have all heard. However imbibing it in the routine life of a journalist is a task that needs toil and a willingness to do well for society. This, in turn, will fetch you accolades and awards galore. At the end of the day, any person in mass media can go to sleep with a smile on his face that he has done his good deed for the moment and is richer and wiser by far as compared to the others in the corporate rat race. It gives a sense of satisfaction, a time to pontificate about not just oneself, and the immediate kith and kin but also about where the human race is heading. Then on, one can find a way and the means to usher in a change for the better. A change that will give a breather to the ones tired in this lifetime of the load they carry on their heads, shoulders, and hearts. This, if nothing else, will bring good cheer, health, and happiness.
