Much investment has happened and is a regular input every year in infrastructure at IIMM. Among the institutions providing mass media training and education, IIMM has two dedicated teaching blocks, one corporate office, a fully tech enabled modern conference hall, and completely fitted out studios for television, newsroom, radio and photography.
IIMM has invested significantly in its infrastructure for practical training and teaching. This includes a DAVP approved bilingual newspaper 'Yuva Udaan' with RNI Number which provides a live experience for our students of print journalism to work on a bilingual newspaper. We have invested in a live broadcast studio with PCR controls, console, TV newsreading studio with lights and multi camera, foot and hand controlled teleprompter, with facility for in campus broadcast and anchoring across all our teaching facilities and buildings, a live broadcast radio and sound studio which is also broadcast on campus and anchored and produced by the students of IIMM. We have invested in the latest motion and still cameras for film, television and photography. IIMM students produce films for the institute as well as on live commercial projects.
Our Faculty comprises practising mass media and electronic media professionals. They are able to use these facilities to groom our students for their real day to day work in the industry. The infrastructure is used by mass media professionals as well as many of our faculty members for the production of actual programmes and shoots which are commercially deployed, thereby giving IIMM a presence in the market through our production arm as well as giving our students an opportunity to be a part of this real life industry.
Our students benefit from this real experience making their training more work oriented and useful for actual placement.
We have our newsroom with facilities comparable to a broadcasting organisation. The equipment includes high end cameras and teleprompters with SAMVAD software, hand control and foot control so that flawless news can be presented. The real life broadcast or industry environment that is simulated in the IIMM Newsroom gives the students hands on experience with the latest methods and techniques.
The ultra modern sound studio of the Institute is furnished with the very best of audio recording, editing and playback equipment. These include sound editing machines, mixers, DVD recorders and writers, headphones, microphones, sound editing and sound mixing software. All this helps to expand the mental horizons of our students.
We have built our own sophisticated editing studio equipped with the latest non-linear editing machine, digital video recorders and players, microphones, headphones etc. IIMM has all facilities necessary to train its students in the current video and audio recording techniques. The Institute provides training on Premier, Premier Pro and Final Cut Pro (FCP) software.
A complete air-conditioned computer laboratory with the latest computers, software and infrastructure is provided to all our students. We have trained and dedicated faculty to guide the students regularly. Students are trained on all the latest software like Microsoft Office, Adobe Pagemaker, Photoshop, Corel Draw etc. using all original software and updates.
Besides including computer education in the curriculum and timetable, our students are allowed access to the lab at any time to assist them with their research for various projects and assignments. The Faculty is available to guide the students at all times and take them through a learning experience beyond the structured syllabus and course content.
IIMM has a full-fledged library with the latest books, references, periodicals, journals, magazines and newspapers in both English and Hindi. Besides the text books prescribed by the university and the various syllabi, the library houses the works of eminent authors - both Indian and Foreign - in both English and Hindi. Our library contains books on journalism, mass media, mass communication, written and spoken English and Hindi, effective communication skills, advertising, public relations, corporate communication, books on electronic and print media as well as books and journals on subjects that comprise the background of journalism - History, Politics, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Development of the Law and the Working of the Indian Constitution, Comparative study of Governments and International Relations, Diplomacy etc.
IIMM has two teaching blocks with well-equipped fully airconditioned classrooms with allthe state of the art facilities that are required. We provide our students with ergonomic seating, computers, projectors, white boards and soft boards. Well lighted and ventilated classrooms ensure a good frame of mind for imbibing and sharing knowledge and learning in a conducive and learner-friendly environment.
Every classroom is equipped with an LCD that is wired to the live broadcast from the IIMM Television Studio so the entire Institute can watch the live newsreading, anchoring and programmes being broadcast live from the studios of IIMM.
Our laboratories and studios have the latest new generation machines and aids. Students are allowed access to them at any time. Also, students get to use and handle the equipment which gives them confidence and comfort with technology. Some of our students take a decision to specialise in mass communication careers behind the camera, some in media planning and some decide to specialise in careers that are camera facing.
The Institute's state of the art conference room is equipped with the latest technology. Facilities available include multiple way video conferencing bringing a team of dozens of people virtually into the classroom over multimedia (video and audio) channels and links; AV system with recording and playback features; LCDs; Projection Systems; Electronic Smart Boards. These ensure global connectivity and networking for the students. The facilities also create an environment for training and grooming the learners for presentations, group discussions, workshops and seminars. The conference room is also used for practice sessions for industry placements, internships and interviews. The final interaction between our students and their prospective employers are also held here. Many guest lectures on the media and business environment are delivered by channel heads and media leaders in our conference room where our students get to interact in person with their idols and build strong networks for the future.
